Does anyone have any idea how to get a replacement DVD from Universal,
or is Universal the proper point of contact? Side two of disc two has serious read errors and I can only watch 1.5 of the three episodes on that side. The set was a gift purchased from Deep Discount DVD weeks ago and I have a note in to them, but it may be easier to get a replacement disc directly from the manufacturer. I went to Universal's web site and they have a "Contact Us" link which I used but I think we all know what's going to happen with that one... any ideas? despondent |

I had a similar situation with a Homicide box set that I purchased from Deep Discount in November. I just discovered a defective disc last weekend. I called DDD and explained the situation. They asked me for my order number and then told me that they would send me a postage paid label so I could return the whole set for a replacement. You might want to call instead of going the email route. From what I've heard, many of the Battlestar Gallactica sets are glitchy. You
might want to try it on another machine rather than returning it and getting the same probelm on the next one. I haven't even checked mine yet. Moviezzz |

I had the exact same problem: Side two of disc two kept pixelating toward the
end of the second episode, and wouldn't play the third. You could see discolaration around the edge of side two itself. Best Buy let me exchange disc two, after I made sure all the others were okay. What I've done in the past when I haven't had a receipt, though it may not work for others: I've bought the title again, but not opened it, then used the receipt to exchange my original defective copy. Later, I return the second copy, the unopened one, for a refund. (works best at stores with multiple locations!) JONA99 |

Yeah, tried two different-branded players, same thing.

Another big problem with the set, the casing. They are almost impossible to
take off the inner rings. One of the discs inner ring was cracked it was on so tight. Cracked almost all the way to the disc itself (it played fine though). Moviezzz |

Yeah, I second the notion that the casing is crap. I too cracked one of my
discs trying to free it from that death grip; the fact that they're double sided makes it even tougher. Because I'm ridiculously anal, I ripped off the plastic and attached slimline CD cases (with closable covers) to the cardboard. Now they're easy to get out, the top side of the disc is protected, and it doesn't look half bad. (Yes, I have way too much free time.) BTW, I heard that Universal is rereleasing this set in February WITHOUT the stupid Cylon box (and presumably without the book as well). Maybe the packaging will be all new? JONA99 |
