Desktop with 3com Etherlink 10/100 PCI NIC; Laptop with Atheros AR 5005G
Wireless Network Adapter. I only have dialup, no cable or DSL is available to me. I would like to share the internet connection with the laptop, and also share files. I have a Linksys WRT54GC router (but I have a feeling this is not going to be of any use to me.) I have spent the better part of the day on Google, and am still at a deadened. Possible should have one of the Grandkids help me set this up yesterday LOL. I know my way around the PC fairly well, but this has me stopped. Thanks for any advice and patience. Bob Leanin' Cedar |

Thanks for the link. I am not TOO far away from success. The host and client
are connected by crossover cable(we will leave wireless for another day LOL), they both show successful connections and they can ping each other. Still missing the ICS part of it. This link should help. I had to setup TCP/IP manually on both host and client and then manually set DNS server to the host. but still cannot connect to the internet from the client. Keep getting no dial tone error. So on with the show. Will let you know in a few hours how I am doing. The wireless part of it should go great at work since the Toshiba notebook has wireless built in and they have a wireless network. Wireless dialup at home will be another day. I have been using it for 2 years now. Ron Rockin Ronnie |
