1. I have a laptop with XP Media Center edition and a desktop with XP
Professional. Both are connected wirelessly to the internet through a router. I have made them both part of the same workgroup, but cannot see the shared folders of one from the other. 2. I tried linking both with a simple Ethernet cable, forced IP addresses for both Ethernet cards and tried pinging one from the other. This did not work either. Sharing folders is very critical for me to avoid transfering data using CDs or flash drives. Please help. =?Utf-8?B?TWFkaGF2aQ==?= |

One possibility is that a firewall on either or both computers is blocking
access as it thinks you are a hacker or similar. Most firewalls can be configured to allow access from certain computers but not others (read the documentation). You could briefly turn off the firewalls and try to share to test if they are the problem. Do not forget to turn them back on again or you are at risk.. "Madhavi" wrote: > 1. I have a laptop with XP Media Center edition and a desktop with XP > Professional.
