Default Alien Quadriology/The Abyss questions

With all the multiple releases of the same movies, I have a hard time
keeping up with what edition has what extras. I sold my T2 Ultimate edition
and bought the T2 Extreme edition because I figured it would include
everything Ultimate did plus some other stuff. not the case. So some
questions about the Alien box set first:

Do all the discs have audio commentary by the director? And have any of
those audio commentaries been available on previous DVD releases? Finally,
are there any plans to release any of these editions of the DVD
individually? i.e. if I wait a couple of months, is there going to be a
release of Aliens by itself with the extras included in the box set?

Also, I noticed there is a new release of The Abyss. I can't tell if
anything new has been added or if it's just new packaging. Anyone know?

Thanks.

It's just new packaging. Fox has re-issued a number of their former
OOP 2-disc "5 Star" editions in new digipack packaging.

This exhaustive review should tell you everything you need to know about the
Alien Quad box set:

http://www.thedigitalbits.com/reviews3/alienquad00.html

Also, I believe that the Alien films in the box set will be available
individually, in two disc sets, come January. There is, however, a 9th disc
in the box that presumably will be exclusive to the set.

The Alien films will be released individually as 2-disc SEs in
January. The 9th disc of extras will remain exclusive to the
Quadrilogy set though.

All of the movies have audio commentary. The director of Alien3 did not
participate, and so that movie's commentary is by other members of the
production crew.

The commentary on Alien is new. It is not the same commentary found on
the original Alien DVD (which remains exclusive to that old disc).

All four movie will be released in individual 2-disc sets in January.
The only thing you'll be missing out on from the box set is the 9th
bonus disc of extras.

know?

Just new packaging. Same old non-anamorphic disc.

The only one I know for sure that will be released in January is the
first film(January 6th). I have seen no official release dates for the
other 3 films.
