Hello. I have some questions about converting a VHS tape to DVD.
I recently read about a company called YesVideo (www.yesvideo.com). Supposedly, YesVideo converts VHS tapes to DVD. I checked out the YesVideo website, and the website said that YesVideo is in a partnership with Walgreens and that I could drop off the VHS tape at my local Walgreens. I called Walgreens and inquired about the cost. Walgreens told me to call the number (800) 447 - 4469. That number turned out to belong to Denevi Video Reflections (www.denevi.com). It turns out that Walgreens has partnerships with both Denevi and YesVideo. The phone number for YesVideo is (877) 817 - 5375. I am interested in converting two tapes to 2 separate DVDs. One tape has 45 minutes of material. The other tape has 66 minutes of material. So, here are my questions: 1) YesVideo will charge $24.99 per tape. Denevi will charge $29.95 per tape. However, I need to know which company produces a DVD of better quality. So, which company is better, YesVideo or Denevi? 2) The 45-minute tape is a sort of performance tape that I participated in when I was in 8th grade. This tape was done in 1987. This tape contains a snippet of a movie or tv show (10 or 20 seconds long) followed by myself or my classmates imitating that scene. This tape contains many such snippets and imitations. My question is this: Will YesVideo or Denevi consider these snippets to be copyrighted material and therefore refuse to copy them? YesVideo's website insists that YesVideo will not copy any copyrighted material without the permission of the owner. However, I am sure that, in every wedding video, you have people dancing to copyrighted music. 3) The tape with 66 minutes of material actually has more material than that. However, I only want the first 66 minutes copied to DVD. After that 66-minute period, the tape has some static and then the tape contains other material. So, I want to be able to tell Denevi or YesVideo to copy only the first 66 minutes to DVD. Do I specify this information on the YesVideo or Denevi order form, or do I specify this information in a phone call? Please help. Thanks in advance. Regards, Alex K. Al 2048 |

[snip] You're asking questions that are not only off topic for this newsgroup, but are probably readily answerable by YesVideo or Denevi (especially question #3). Also there are some jerks here who will probably go on and on about you being a pirate and tell you to buy the DVD if you want a copy...ignore the idiots like SpeedyBird I would suggest looking at getting a DVD drive or stand alone recorder, or consider waiting until stand alone recorders drop in price. If you need the DVDs today, and don't want to invest the extra money in a drive or recorder, then talk to both companies and ask to see demo disks. MR_ED_of_Course |
