Paramount has some good news for fans of the original Star Trek films.
January 27 will bring the release of Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country (Special Collector's Edition). The technical specifications are Dolby 5.1 audio and anamorphic 2.35:1 video. The included extras are currently listed as; Director & Screenwriter Audio Commentary; Movie Making; The Star Trek Universe; Art Imitates Life; A Farewell; Theatrical Trailers; Production Gallery; Storyboards. Retail price is set for $19.95. If you want to catch up on the other original cast films there is also on the same date Star Trek: Original Crew Movie Collection. They look like the special editions since the announcement did include extras such as commentary tracks, deleted scenes and making of featurettes. The cost of the box set is $122.95. Paramount also has Punk'd: The Complete First Season set for January 20th for $27.95. This two disc set features All 8 Episodes from season one including exclusive scenes that did not air on MTV; Brand new never-before-scene special features created by Ashton Kutcher and co-creator Jason Goldberg; Commentaries; Multi Angle Viewing Option. It is rated NC-17 and includes scenes with Brittany Spears, Jessica Simpson, Mandy Moore, Pink and Justin Timberlake. For fans of Rowan Atkinson of Mister Bean fame Universal has Johnny English ready for a release on January 13th. The disc will be available in either an anamorphic version or pan and scan. Both offer Dolby 5.1 audio. Extras include Making of Johnny English; character Profiles; Self-Defense Techniques; 'Spy' Training; DVD ROM Features; Sneak Peek of Thunderbirds. Suggested cost will be $26.98. Also from Universal on January 20th is the Anarchist Cookbook. From the music division of Universal they have a real treat for Beethoven fans. On November 18th they will release Beethoven Sym #1 & #2: Claudio Abbado / Berlin Philharmonic, Beethoven Sym #3 & #4: Claudio Abbado / Berlin Philharmonic, Beethoven Sym #5 & #6: Claudio Abbado / Berlin Philharmonic, Beethoven Sym #7 & #8: Claudio Abbado / Berlin Philharmonic and Beethoven Sym #9: Claudio Abbado / Berlin Philharmonic. Also on that date are Diana Krall: The Look Of Love (DVD-Audio), Diana Krall: When I Look In Your Eyes (DVD-Audio), Mahler 8: Riccardo Chailly / Royal Cocertgebouw Orchestra, Renee Fleming (DVD-Audio), Ryan Adams: Gold (DVD-Audio) and Tchaikovsky #6: Valery Gergiev/Kirov Orchestra. Each disc will run you $19.98. If you are into acerbic humor then Bill Maher: Victory Begins At Home from Warner Brothers might interest you. The disc will be released on January 20th. Ventura has the reunion television flick La Law: The Movie set for release on January 20th. They also have Ali: An American Hero for January 20th and Jackie Robinson Story/Sanders Of The River on January 13th. Each is set for a $9.99 suggested price tag. BMG has Christina Aguilera: TBA for release on December 16th. On January 27th Paramount has some flicks to choose from. A few are just right for Greg Kinnear fans. Most are family or comedy films. Best Defense, Blue's Clues: Classic Clues, Dear God, Dora The Explorer: Pirate Adventure, Oswald: On The Go Oswald, Pontiac Moon and A Smile Like Yours. Red Distribution has some music selections. Included are Little Feat: High Wire Act Live 2003 (December 9th), Chet Atkins: A Tribute To Chet Atkins (November 18th) and Big Brother And The Holding Company: Nine Hundred Nights (December 9th). Roger Ebert used to write some soft core flicks for Russ Myers back in the seventies. His Beneath The Valley Of The Ultra Vixens is out now care of Ventura. They also have coming up John Mellencamp: Trouble No More and Kaiju Big Battel: Terebi Sento on January 13th followed by Battle For L.A. and Behind The Music That Sucks on Janurary 20th. December 30th will bring from Columbia/TriStar Belly Of The Beast and So Close (2002). Both are listed as retailing at $24.95. On January 27th Vanguard has a few films for those into foreign flicks. Many are presented in Dolby 5.1, all are sub titled. Included are Un Titan En El Ring (A Titan In The Ring), La Clave Del Diablo (Code Of The Devil) and Regalo Caro (High Priced Gift). Also due for that date is Con Man and Easy Listening. They also have a documentary made by a New York City fireman just before 9/11 that details the time just before, during and after the attacks. Brothers On Holy Ground will also be released on January 27th for $19.95. Stop by for a complete downloadable information list of all region one DVDs in several formats as well as daily changes.
