DVD Video - Recommendations for upscale progressive scan DVD player with SVCD capability

I'm looking for recommendation for high-quality progressive scan DVD
players with good SVCD compatibility.

In general, I've observed that the machines with the best SVCD
compatibility tend to be the cheaper models (Apex, etc). I have a JVC
DVD player in my study which plays SVCDs flawlessly, but my more
expensive Panasonic and Toshiba players are not SVCD capable.

I'd like to be able to play my SVCDs on my home theatre HDTV
television without sacrificing build quality or playback quality.
Looking in the $200-$300 price range.

Yeah, a PC with a software dvd player is the answer. And you'll get a lot of
change and a better result...
