Fox has resurrected two previously cancelled titles. For some reason both
have been issued different UPC numbers from the original cancelled versions.
Lost In Space: Season 1, previous set for January 13th 2004 with a UPC of
024543079040 is no set for January 6th with UPC 024543102502 and a price of
$79.98. Good news for fans of the FX series The Shield. The old cancelled
version 024543079446 originally set for October 7th has been changed to
024543099451 with a release date of January 6th and price of $59.98.
Hailed as the 'anti-Brittany' Avril Lavigne: My World will street care of
Fox on November 4th for $26.98. This release contains a 'bonus' CD and
according to the announcement features; DVD: "Try To Shut Me Up Tour,
Buffalo N.Y." Concert; "Avril's Cut" Behind-the-scenes Featurette; Outtakes;
Photos; 5 Music Videos: "I'm With You", "SK8er Boi", "Complicated", "Losing
Grip", and "Knocking On Heaven's Door"; Bonus CD: 6 Song Bonus CD including
4 never-before-released tracks: "Fuel" - audio master from MTV Icon
performance, "Unwanted" - recorded live from Dublin, "Basket Case" -
recorded live from Dublin, "SK8er Boi" - recorded live from Dublin,
"Knockin' on Heaven's Door" - recorded live from Buffalo and "Why" - B side
track that appears on the UK commercial single for Complicated.
Universal also has the critically acclaimed Seabiscuit set for release on
December 16th So far three variations have been announced; Seabiscuit (P&S),
Seabiscuit (Widescreen) and Seabiscuit: Limited Edition Gift Set. The two
regular editions are set to feature; Feature commentary with Director Gary
Ross and Filmmaker Steven Soderbergh; Racing Through History; Bringing the
Legend to Life; The Making of Seabiscuit; Anatomy of a movie moment; From
Script to Screen; Jeff Bridge's On the Set Photographs; Production Notes;
Cast & Filmmaker Biographies. The Gift set includes a second disc with
Winner's Circle: The Heroes Behind The Legend, HBO First Look, The True
Story of Seabiscuit and Seabiscuit vs. War Admiral: The 1938 Match Race. The
regular editions are $26.98 while the gift set will set you back $47.98.
For rock fans Ventura has Ultimate Progressive Rock (Emerson, Lake & Palmer
/ Procol Harum / Rick Wakeman) due out on November 11th. The disc features
Pictures at an Exhibition, Live In Copenhagen and Journey to the Center of
the Earth for $39.98.
Universal has announced still more editions to the American Pie 'saga'. The
latest installment 'American Wedding' will be released on January 2nd 2004.
True to the Universal tradition of multiple versions of the film there will
be, at this point, four variations; P&S R rated, anamorphic R rated, P&S
Unrated and anamorphic Unrated. The currently announced extras include;
Deleted Scenes; Outtakes; Enter The Dominatrix; Inside the Bachelor Party;
Speaking Stiffler; Jim & Michelle's Wedding Video; Grooming The Groom; From
Script To Scene; Feature Commentary with Stars and Filmmakers. For the two
unrated versions there is also an option to view the theatrical (rated)
version. Each version has 5.1 Dolby audio and will go for a suggested price
of $26.98. In addition to these four variations there is also one being
called American Wedding Gift Set (Widescreen/Unrated) for $39.98. Aside from
a different package this is identical to the unrated widescreen with the
addition of a disc called American Pie Revealed. Not announced yet but look
for a full screen version of this as well as numerous permutations of
bundled packaging.
Pioneer has announced two separate versions of Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Both
are set for $19.99 suggested retail price. The two titles are Texas Chainsaw
Massacre (30th Anniversary/Limited Edition) and Texas Chainsaw Massacre
(30th Anniversary/Standard Edition). Apparently the limited edition has a
special 'two faced' cover. Extras are listed as; New widescreen digital
superscan transfer supervised by director Tobe Hooper; Commentary by
director Tobe Hooper, director of photography Daniel Pearl and actor Gunnar
Hansen (Leatherface); Deleted footage; Trailers; Alternate footage;
Bloopers; Production stills.
Fox has a number of new announcements. First, for Buffy fans the UPC and
'official' announcement for the complete season five has been made. The
release date is set for December 9th. Wasting no time the UPC and release
date for season six was also made and the set is due out on July 6th 2004.
Both have a price of $59.98 and are listed as full screen and Dolby surround
audio.
The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen will be released by Fox on December
16th. There will be both a P&S and anamorphic 2.35:1 version both with Dolby
5.1 audio. The listed extras are; Commentary by: Costume Designer Jackie
West, Make-Up Effects Steve Johnson, Visual Effects John Sullivan and
Miniatures Creators Ian Hunter & Matthew Gratzner; Commentary by: Producer
Trevor Albert and actors: Peta Wilson, Jason Flemyng, Tony Curran and Shane
West; Making Featurrete; 12 Deleted Scenes.
The short lived Fox television Sci-Fi series Firefly will be released on
December 9th. This four disc set contains all the series' episodes. The
extras include commentary tracks for selected episodes, gag reel, deleted
scenes and reported hidden features. The price is listed as $49.98.
On December 16th Fox will release a few titles previous under the Artisan
label. Hard Cash, Greenmail, Derailed and Stickup. Also on that date are
Pick-Up Artist, Only The Strong, Circuit, Dog Soldiers and for Andrew Dice
Clay fans Adventures Of Ford Fairlane. All appear to have stereo audio and
full screen for $9.98.
Fox also has set for December 16th the Terrorists for $14.98 and 44 Minutes
for $29.98.
Fox will release on January 6th some of their older classic flicks. Born To
Be Bad, My Darling Clementine, I Was A Male War Bride, Kiss Them For Me and
People Will Talk for $14.98 each.
Warner Music has some video collections set for release on October 14th.
Included are Essential Music Videos: Classic Country, Essential Music
Videos: Hits Of The 80's, Essential Music Videos: 80's Hard Rock, Essential
Music Videos: Hot Country and Essential Music Videos: 80's Rock each for
under $8.
