Windows Media Player wont work

This is Firefox ver 1.0
Whenever I click on a .WMP (Windows Media Player) file, I get a thing
that says I need a plugin.
I DO HAVE WMP installed, and it works fine with IE or on it's own.
I followed the link in Firefox and did not really get anywhere. I
finally decided that I needed the plugin for Netscape (I thought).
I got it, ran it, and all I still get in Firefox is that damn "you
need a plugin" message. This is really starting to **** me off. I
have already made IE my default browser once again. I like FF in many
ways, but often times it acts like a complete idiot, and this is one
of those times. Apparently the programmer fell asleep during this
part of the programming.

Did you install WMP before or after FF? I have found that if you do it
after, WMP doesn't work. Reinstalling FF does the trick (found out
while setting up a new laptop and getting the two in the wrong order)
