It's total BS. In my opinion it's unlawful restraint of trade. I only learned
about region coding this past year while in Taiwan; couldn't play many of my
US DVD's.

They say it's to prevent films that are only released in parts of the world
from being sold in other parts. Why not just release them everywhere all at
once? Seems to work very well for music CD's. Also, why the hell do they
insist on region coding old films? I mean, why shouldn't my Region 1 "Shane"
DVD be playable in Region 3?

I, too, finally bought a region free player. This region coding business is
one reason why I support crackers everywhere.
