ID this movie please

I have not come across this movie since seeing it at the cinema in my
teens. Black and white, there was a squirrel in it using dollar bills
from a concealed cache of stolen money to line its nest, dropping some
notes as it did so. The money would fall at a young boy's feet who
thought he was being sent money from heaven to help his needy family.

Anyone recognise this?
