Many many movies that have theatrical releases in the US go straight to video overhere. And STILL most of the movies in theatres are crap! Kind of a dumb movie really. Especially <spoiler> having John Cleese being Alex's father. He had no function, and the joke about him thinking his daughter was a prostitute was way too unlikely (why would Jason never use the words "private detective" when he was telling him what Alex does?). And it went on too long. The whole character was useless and should have been left out. The thin man was underused. I usually don't like the bad-guy-turns-good crap, but it was OK here because it's kind of explained, and then he just gets killed! And AGAIN it's the good guy who turns out to be the bad guy, just like the first, and in this case a former good girl as well. And I'd liked it if the story was just a detective story, and not tied in with one of the main characters' past. Come on, what are the odds?! Why does it always have to be personal? I usually don't let movies get away with being this dumb, but I still kind of liked this one. It's all about seeing Lucy Liu in skimpy outfits, I guess. Mischa Mischa van Dinter |
