Aw, hell!

All of a sudden, my Toshiba SD-1200 keeps saying No Disc. Hell, it won't
even recognize the disc it was playing just before it stopped recognizing
anything. I didn't bump it or nothin'. Is four years the average lifespan
of a DVD player? My parents bought their DVD player before I bought mine,
and theirs hasn't needed to be replaced (but then, I don't think they watch
as many DVDs.)

Can you guys think of any quick fixes I could try performing? I'm sure that
getting the thing repaired would probably cost more than buying a decent
new player.

Speaking of which, I guess I'd buy the SD-2900? Any suggestions?

My Hitachi lasted 23 months. I wasn't using it heavily at all: maybe
2-3 DVDs a week.
