Default wireless adapter problem

My Belkin wireless adapter (PC Card type) has suddenly stopped working in one
of my two PC Card slots (older Toshiba laptop, USB v1.1) I'd been using the
wireless card for months in the top slot (where it was originally installed)
without any problems then one day it failed to stay powered on ... I tried
resetting, etc. but without success. XP recognizes the card and tries to
connect but the card doesn't respond. I tried other cards in the slot and
they work fine. I tried the wireless card in the lower slot and it's fine ...
what the heck is going on here? And how can I fix this ... I really need to
use the wireless card in the top slot because I often need to use both slots
simultaneously.

Hmmm, I don't have an answer for you, but I can report having the same
experience. About two months ago my Belkin wireless g PC card had
intermitent issues getting power in the top slot on my Dell notebook. I
switched it to the bottom slot and it has been fine ever since.

The part I don't understand is: "I really need to use the wireless card in
the top slot because I often need to use both slots simultaneously." In my
case I simply started using the top slot for my PC card modem and ethernet
cards. Is there something about the Toshiba which prevents you from doing
this? In most notebooks once the drivers are installed you can pretty much
insert or remove PC card devices in any slot at any time.

My need to use the Belkin wireless PC Card in the top slot is a "physical"
issue ... it's tough to insert the other cards when the Belkin is in the
lower slot due to it's raised edge (the antenna.) Thanks for letting me know
about the problem you had with your Belkin card ... perhaps I should contact
their tech support too.
