If you switch it off, you can't connect to wireless networks. If you switch it on, you can connect to wireless networks. That said, you have to have something somewhere to connect to. Hi
In order to save on battery it is possible to Electrically disable the Network Card on many new Laptops. Therefore, if you do not use the computer for Network, and or Broadband Internet connection you can leave it Off. If you do need to configure the computer for Network or Broadband Internet connection (Cable, DSL, Wireless, etc.) that needs a Network card, you have to switch it On (and leave it On) and then configure the Network settings ( http://www.ezlan.net/Installing.html ).
