Running Windows XP SP2,I have DSL with Dynamic IP, a Linsys WRT54GS router
and a Sony network camera, a subscription to DynDns.org and their Dyndns Updater, and the Sony's free DDNS site. I have been tring for two weeks to set the camera up to view on the Internet with no luck, I can view the camera from the computer hooked to the router. In the Linksys setup under Dynamic IP there is a Dyndns.org box but ever time I fill the information in it comes up with a error, Host Name error. I think I'm going to upgrade My DSL the upgrade comes with a Static IP Address, is this the best way to go? I would be THANKFULL if somebody could shed some light on how to view the camera from the Internet at a diffrent location. Thanks Ronnie =?Utf-8?B?Um9u?= |

It is probably your Linksys router. You'll need to go into the advanced
mode, and forward port 80 traffic to your camera. Or if you want, you can forward another port of your liking (54321) to the camera. If you do this, you'll have to type in the following to access the camera - http://www.blahblah.com:54321. If the camera is installed on your XP SP2 pc, then you need to forward the trafic from your router, to the IP address of your PC. Then make sure you have the proper configuration on the Windows Firewall. -- -------- Ryan "Ron" wrote: > Running Windows XP SP2,I have DSL with Dynamic IP, a Linsys WRT54GS router > and a Sony network camera, a subscription to DynDns.org and their Dyndns > Updater, and the Sony's free DDNS site. > > I have been tring for two weeks to set the camera up to view on the Internet > with no luck, I can view the camera from the computer hooked to the router. > In the Linksys setup under Dynamic IP there is a Dyndns.org box but ever > time I fill the information in it comes up with a error, Host Name error. > > I think I'm going to upgrade My DSL the upgrade comes with a Static IP > Address, is this the best way to go? > > I would be THANKFULL if somebody could shed some light on how to view the > camera from the Internet at a diffrent location. > Thanks > Ronnie =?Utf-8?B?VGVjaGRhbmdv?= |
