I have a R707. My friend has Canon PowerShot S430.
At this time, Canon is rated as the most popular camera. The R707 is new
and its better described as a computer than a camera. All I can say is that
the Canon's owners were impressed with the pictures taken by the R707.
The only way to find out which one you will like best is to take pictures
and compare the pictures with those taken by the Canon PowerShot S430.
The R707 has an internal memory of 32MB, self diagnose program and panoramic
function. It does not have a remote control and a dock is require to see
pictures on your television.
A good test is to take a macro picture of a small stamp on a white
envelllope. It should shown the paper grains and give you the illusion of 3
dimensions. The other test is to take a picture of an hummingbird eating at
a feeder. Taking the picture of a flying squirrel can be interesting.
At the end of the day, the best camera is the one you feel comfortable with
and happy of the quality of the photos taken.
