It is a Corel Draw file format. You need Corel Draw to open it.

Other utilities, like CPT Viewer, will also let you look at the iamge.

IrfanView can read (version 6) CPT files.

Well, close; it's a Corel Photo Paint file format. It's their
equivalent of .PSD (photoshop).

Yep, and you can do some neato thingys in there; however, it does not allow
you to save it in a format that would then let you open it in photoshop - so
you lose the ability to do anything in photoshop, like
print..........printing from within photo paint leaves a lot to be desired,
at least on our system - stuff prints fine out of photoshop, but colors are
goony out of photo paint.
