I assume some special "shoe camera" is used. Are these available, or
would I have to make my own?

Most of the ones I have seen were done with the knowledge and
cooperation of the subject, so they could have used a large and obvious
camera. Others seem to have been done at long range with telephoto
lens. You should know that doing this without the permission of the
subject is illegal most places.

We had a guy arrested at a local Wal-Mart with one of those. He had a
minicam attached to his sneaker with duct tape, and it had a cable that ran
up his pants leg and down his sleeve, exiting at his wrist, and it went on
into a duffle bag that he was carrying. I am unclear as to if the duffle
bag contained a VCR, rather than this being a still camera, but I believe
that it was taking video.

He stood near the checkout lines, getting behind his victim(s) and slipped
his foot near them as they bent over to remove the merchandise from their
carts to be rung up.

Of course, he was taped by the Wal-Mart security system, plus his camera
provided the evidence as well. He was the first conviction in Pennsylvania
of what was then a new law making such activity illegal. Crazy pervert.

Advice to all:
For shots that don’t look like crap you need to hire a model and use a good
camera. This also works well for taking pics of naked women.

Advice to troll:
Sod off!

Hey Clyde, since the orginal "upskirts" were put on the web years ago, it's
been outlawed pretty much everywhere. Anyone with a brain or an internet
connection can figure it out, but the penalties are stiff and the pics
stupid and uninspiring. Why would anyone want to do something
non-consensual such as that, when there's so much consensual pics out there?
You get your jollies sneaking into your neighbors' shrubs to peek in their
windows while they get dressed for work?

Pathetic.

A man was arrested doing this in the late 1970s who had a modified
"rocket-cam" mounted in his orthopedic shoe. It was a camera made for
a model rocket nose cone. Various spring wound half frame 35mm cameras
were evidently used for these types of things, as was the simple
practice of mounting cameras under the walk-over floor grates in the
entranceways of department stores, some of which back in the 50s and
60s had a lot of drop area. There were guys that would go under there
with hand-held cameras, as big as pack Polaroids.

There were books in the early adult bookstores of these photos. No
one ever got bothered because-how many women would try to bring
charges based only on a photo of their vagina and buttocks?
Consensuality was moot (unless she had a tattoo or something).
