8x/10x/12x Cameras vs. the 1.7x limit

Anyone using an "Ultra Zoom" camera with a teleconverter or scope that
exceeds 2x without also suffering significant vignetting/CA/purple
fringing ? It seems perverse that the "low zoom" small-lens cameras
are more suitable to telescope adapters and the high-power add-on
lenses.
