Gateway Digital Camera

Does anyone have experience with Gateway digital cameras?
They're currently advertising a DV-S20 Pocket Multi-Cam at a price of
$199.99 and a $100 rebate on it if you purchase an Accessory Kit at $39.99.
It's only a 2 megapixel camera, but the intriguing thing about it (to me at
least) is that it's only 3.5 x 2.5 x 1.2 inches and weighs in at 4.3 oz. I
already own a Kodak DC4800 and a Canon S230 Digital Elph, but I'd love to
have a camera I could carry around all the time for those great photos I
could have taken if only I had my camera with me.
It seems like I could hardly lose by buying this little gem, but if others
have had bad experience with Gateway cameras, I'll probably pass.
Thanks for any input.
Judy

"The DV-S20 Pocket Multi-Cam is not intended for super high quality photos,
prints or videos. If you're in the market for the best imaging, this is not
the device for you. However, this device is quite useful for someone who
wants to have a still and video camera handy at all times. It's small,
light, and under the right conditions, takes good images and videos. It's
very easy to use and you can quickly get videos and images to your computer
and on the Internet." See http://www.makeitsimple.com/article.php?sid=1174

If you want something that actually works (not the Gateway), then go to
Costco, and if you don't have a membership, try to find someone you know who
does.

Currently, Costco (stores, not online that I can tell) are selling a Sony
U20 pocket camera AND a Sony 4x6 dye sub printer for $199.00 for the
package. The printer alone sells for $199 at Circuit City. The U20 is
barely larger than a large pack of gum, small enough to fit in a pocket, and
takes pretty decent 2 megapixel images. Much better than the sample images
I've seen from the Gateway.

Even if you cannot find access to a Costco, you can buy the new U30 (same as
U20 but with a couple of extra tweaks to it's menu) for $199 new in stores,
and can buy the U20 at a discount or on Ebay for even less. A better
alternative.

Since you are interested in small cameras, perhaps the following list will
help you.

To me, the most important factor is how thick the camera is. The
thinner it is, the easier it fits in the pocket, especially a
pants pocket.

Here's a list of small cameras that you might consider, ordered
by thickness, also showing size in cubic inches (ci), weight,
effective megapixels (mp), optical zoom (x), and best lens f
number, per data from manufacturer sites or reviews. Because
most of these cameras aren't exactly box-shaped, the thickness
may vary and the ci value is only an approximation; the weight is
usually without batteries or accessories; megapixels are rounded
down to nearest million.

Considering only 2mp or more, 1.2" thick or less.
