Microsoft Picture It Express!

I am just new to digital photography. However when I use "Picture It
Express" to edit some .jpg files, and when I attempt to resave it as a .jpg
file, it always saves it as .mix file. The .mix format is the default format
for Picture it Express. which is part of Windows 98 Plus. I can save it as
other formats i.e. .gif but not a .jpg. Does any one know of a fix or
solution for this??

Under save as is a drop down menu. One of the selections is .jpg.
