Ok this is driving me crazy! Where are my files? I can browse all my
photos in Camedia but have no idea where they are on the hard drive. I have
tried the search utility (Win XP) but it can't find the individual files.

Help!

Robin

Are they still on the camera? I have an Oly too but the first thing I do is
just transfer the pictures to my hard drive and then use my own viewer. Did
you manually search your drive(s)? If not, try Start -> Search(?) -> All
Files & Folders(?) and type in p*.jpg for the filename and "look in" all
harddrives (not running XP here so not sure about exact wording). At least
my camera names files Pmddnnnn.JPG where P is constant, m is the month (1 to
C), dd is the day of the month and nnnn is the image number.

I noticed this, fortunately before I had too many pics in there. I couldnt
find them either, the album files just look empty which makes it a bit
tricky if you want to back up as well i think. Now I just transfer each
camerafull direct to thye hard drive and sort them into folders. Camedia
seems okay for printing and viewing .
Perhaps the pictures become more `findable` if you upgrade to the full
version? Anyone paid up?

After you have found your files make sure they are in a folder of yopur
choosing and delete that crappy camedia program

Check Options to the bottom left in the menu, and see the directory
there. For me (using Windows ME), it's

C:\WINDOWS\All Users\Application Data\OLYMPUS\Camedia Master 4

However, I expect there to be changes in Windows XP.

There is likely a hidden directory somewhere in the path, which Windows
Explorer doesn't show by default, and therefore you don't find the
files. Change the settings in Windows Explorer so it shows hidden
files.

Thank you! Yngvar

XP was different, files are in C:\Documents and Settings\All
Users\Application Data\Olympus\Camedia Master\Album\ <your album names>etc.
etc.

The search function would not find the files but yes they are there. Hope
this is useful to other 4.1 users.

It is easier to select where you want them to go when you get the
pictures from the camera. It is easy with the camedia. Just select the
folder on the right or new folder from the bottom of the page.
