I ordered and receive a Tamron 24-135 lens for my S2 from Adorama. After
reading the instructions I removed my current Nikon 50mm 1.4 with the
Tamron.
I got a fEE error in the top LCD and the camera did not function. I tried my
50mm just as a sanity check and it worked fine. I noticed that the Tamron
was not engaging the external aperature switch (lever at 8:00) as the 50mm
does.

In hind sight it appears the Tamron was not in new condition. It ha a ratty
plastic bag without any external wrap or silica packets.

I called Tamron Tech support (800 827 8880) and they informed me to return
the unit. Anyone have similar issues.

Did you turn the aperature ring to the f22 position? This is necessary
on the D100 (don't know about the S2) to put the lens in auto aperature
since the D100 does not support selection of the aperature from the lens.
