I am having a new above ground pool installed tomorrow. I thought it
would be fun to set up my D100 with the Camera Control software and fire
off a shot every 5 or 10 minutes to document the excavation and assembly
of the pool.

The batteries on the D100 are great and last forever EXCEPT when
connected to a PC. Has anyone done anything like this and how long can
I expect the batteries to last. I won't be using the flash or anything
and the pictures will be going straight the PC hard drive.

I figure it needs to last around 6 hours or so. I have two EN-EL3
batteries which will be freshly charged in the battery pack.

The only time I have done any time-lapse photography with my D-100, I
have had it hooked up to the option AC adaptor (which I got for CCD
cleaning) and my laptop. I would think that with two EN-EL3 batteries, you
should be just fine. 1 pic every five minutes = 12 pictures per hour * 6
hours = 72 images.
