Default Review of Vonage

Hi All,

I am posting the link to my review of Vonage here. I have yet to try
Packet8 which is the only other one available with a local telephone number
in my city.

I have had very good experiences with Vonage with occasional glitches but
for the most part I have been thrilled to tell Alltel and AT&T that I no
longer need them.

Link to Vonage Review (and diagram of network setup):

background like that

Naila,

Personally I have never had a call dropped. However I have had a few
problems where people have not been able to access voicemail and it just
beeps. I also had a problem where one family member could not call my phone
number. I contacted Vonage and then had the family member contact the local
carrier and the problem was resolved. My prefix was brand new so this could
have just been a routing issue on the new prefixes and have nothing to do
with Vonage but I am not sure.

I have had no problem seeing it on my screen but I can change the text color
to make the contrast a little higher. Thanks for the suggestion.

There is always the problem of incoming calls being dropped. Have you ever
ran into that problem?

I've tried making calls with both Packet8 and Vonage and think Packet8
is the better deal.

If you enter 'STAR' as the coupon code when you sign up at
www.packet8.net you will save $20 on signup.

A friend of mine tried calling my vonage account number in 916 area code.
He said that nothing happen and he was getting nothing after dialing the
vonage number.

I have also signed up for packet 8. He then tried my packet 8 number and
got through first time.

I wonder what is the problem with vonage number.

Can any one solve the mystry.

There was a discussion of a large Vonage outage (Sunday, I think)
on www.dslreports.com. I forget which forum.

I'd add another negative:
Requirement to dial "1" before all calls.

I sent back my Vonage due to this requirement. Sounds trivial, however it's
a real hassle in a mixed environment with LEC & VOIP lines.
