tilde on Spanish keyboard?

My website address includes a tilde (www.btinternet.com/~joebloggs). When I
was in Spain recently, I could not type that from the keyboard as there was
no ~ key - it is incorporated in the ñ key. Eventually I typed the address
in Word, using symbol insert. How else could I have done it? I suppose
there is one of those ALT+118 type shortcuts?

There is indeed: Alt 0152 gives you the magic ~.

It's Alt+0126 for the mid line tilde ( ~ ), 0152 gives the higher tilde to
go over letters ( ~ ). Also, AltGr and the 4 key twice will get you 2 tildes
(the 4 key once doesn't produce anything, before anyone jumps in), then just
delete on of them

fine

Yeah, but we're taking about Spanish keyboards/layouts.

Of course - thanks. I'll try it at Christmas when we next go to Barcelona
(and may experiment by changing my keyboard here - Scotland - to see it
work).

I haven't been into the city at Christmas for years. We're going to try and
get to the port on Kings night this year - the three tractors pulling
decorated trailers through our village is starting to loose its appeal.

> For Spanish lower case n with tilde, alt164, like this, ñ. For upper

case N with tilde, alt165, Ñ. Upside down question mark is alt168, ¿.
Upside down exclamation mark, alt173,¡. Letters with accents: alt160 á,
alt130 é, alt161 í, alt162 ó, alt163 ú, alt132 ä, alt137 ë, alt139 ï, alt148
ö, alt129 ü. If you need superscript a or o as in the abbreviations for
primera, primero (1ª, 1º), etc then alt166 = ª and alt167 = º.

Hope this helps

Instead of remembering all these Alt+ codes and characters, I recommend applying some sort of keyboard stickers (I got mine from http://www.latkey.com) or drawing those symbols with a pencil. You would also have to install Spanish regional settings to get access to all those keys - that's what I did for my translation work anyways.
