Default Free Dell Laptop?

Is this offer too good to be true:

http://www.consumergain.com/landing....0136&gi=6&pi=6

Before I got to that page, a pop-up window opened and said:

"Congratulations! You have been chosen to receive a free Dell laptop. Click
here now."

There were no conditions mentioned in that pop-up window. Not even an
asterisk next to "free". I'd give you the link, but since it was in a pop-up
window, I don't know what the url is.

So should I register my email address for the free laptop?

And if there is no free laptop, can I complain or sue to get it, since the
pop-up window said I had won it?

Thanks!

Well the link came from a reputable newspaper I was reading online. A pop-up
window opened when I was there. Even though Mozilla supposedly blocks
pop-ups for me.

Thanks for the advice. It upsets me that they can offer a free Dell, but it
really isn't free at all.

Yeah, yeah...I know!

This one happened to slip through past the Firefox blocker though. And it
did say "Free Dell laptop". The offer was too good to resist.

If you're curious about these things, you could get the Firefox Link
Preview extension, that will usually show the hidden link. Or without
it, I *think* you can right-click, copy the link location, and print it
into text format.
If *I'm* curious, I'll snip off the referrer ID at the end of the
link (so no one profits), and go have a look at the site.

But, out of idle curiosity. You have to *know* it's a scam....

Not at all. The best way to keep in business is to NOT charge for your
items and just give them away. This way you can gain the most profits.

Julie,
I had a similar experience. I am trying to delve into this deeper.
Do you have a copy of the original link? I can't find one.
I did find out Consumergain.com is d/b/a for MemberSource Media
with an office in San Diego, CA. A contact name of Linda L. Goodman is listed. I believe Linda runs "The Goodman Law Firm" specializing in internet law. They represent consumergain.com.
I am trying to find out where the company is actually located, to contact them by phone (obtain an organization chart) & ask them to help me get my free lap-top?
Have you learned anything new that could help?
