Modem won't dial

I have been using a laptop via a wireless signal with a wireless pc card
connected.

I no longer use the wireless and require to use normal dial up

I am unable to get the modem to dial, all settings seem ok but the modem
will not dial, no tone.

The only problem I can see in device manager is a pci modem with yellow
question mark, everytime I delete or
uninstall it keeps appearing.

Not sure if this is causing the modem error

Any help please............................................
