win xp pro - click on link in outlook express and ie startes then get
"Invalid Syntax Error" and "The page cannot be displayed" - sometimes ok -
sometimes not - depends on the link.

which patch should be removed to stop this nonsense????

Are you certain the links are correct? Invalid Syntax means just that. If
you type in the url manually do you get the same results?

Above fails for me too - even though it mostly loads I then get an error
message dialog saying that IE has encountered error and page will not
load.

This one works ok for me. Sorry I didn't reply before now - I got pink
