WinXp keeps trying to install drivers

Hi

I have WinXp as my operating sytem and have installed drivers for the HP
scan/printer/copier PSC2110. Everything is ok: messages come up saying
'successful installation' etc + the System/Device Manager shows everything
installed ok. The problem is every time I try to scan something, Winxp or
something doses see the installed drivers and keeps trying to reinstall them. I
have to go thru a ritual of cancel installation prompts about 15xs before it
'gives up'or has worked thru a protocol, then the drivers load ok and I can do
what I want.

Anyone any ideas what's happening here?
