Hi
I have reinstalled my W98Se. Since then I allways receive the "PCI Communication Device" message when I restart my machine. I have looked for this 'problem' on th einternet but could not find something that could help me. I also have a printer connected to me usb port. But that is not working, I don't know if it has something to do with the message at starting up my system. When I want to install the printer I cannot select the usb port as the port on which the printer must be installed. This is my pc setup: Dell Dimension 4100, W98SE, HP Deskjet 930C connected to the USB port Hope someone can help me out Regards |

Hold down the Windows key and press the Pause/Break key, choose the Hardware tab, click on Device Manager. Any items with a yellow exclamation next to them don' have the correct drivers. The PCI communications device is your modem. And you probably need the USB drivers installed, they're part of the motherboard's drivers. Check the disks that came with the computer or look at support.dell.com for more info on your model. |

Install the drivers for it. For the printer, read the install instructions again. The setup program may only provide serial and parallel ports for selection. You probably have to install the driver *BEFORE* plugging in the USB printer so the install program can then use it to detect the printer. Reread your install manual, or read it at http://snipurl.com/dy2w (notice step 4 which means the printer was NOT already connected). -- __________________________________________________ __________ ** Post your replies to the newsgroup - Share with others ** For e-mail Reply: remove "NIXTHIS", add "#VS811" to Subject. __________________________________________________ __________ |
