At work, sometimes, the cursor goes crazy as if someone is moving the mouse
very very fast all over the mat. At the same time, different windows open as
if that someone is clicking it randomly. IT are not concerned as they are
planning to replace the copmuter anyway (have been planning to do so for the
last 18 months!!) It usually stops after a few seconds. I've now noticed
mine at home starting to do the same but not yet opening windows and for a
shorter period. Any idea whats happening and how to cure it?

If it is an optical mouse, sometimes the type of mouse mat causes this
type of problem. Not sure about the opening windows though, they usually
require a mouse click.

Thanx Kev, my mouse is optical whilst the one at work is one of the oldest
you can find. That's why I'm wondering if it's some sort of virus as there
is v little similarity between the two computers and accessories. I do have
Norton so I don't get it

My guess would be someone has a back-door into your system. Could be
someone in your IT department or an outside hacker, or a co-worker with too
much time on their hands?

Just a few guesses...
