Is there any software that will scan documents and save them in an editable
format, Word for instance? I'm on Photoshop 6 but that can't it seems.

John.

OCR it is called and you can download free programs from the internet.
You will need a scanner to do it.

Thanks Kev. Can you specify a particular website where I can get the
software please? I have a scanner but don't think it will run OCR. Nothing
like trying though.

John.

Scanners don't do OCR. OCR software does OCR. Your scanner CD may have OCR
software on it...did you check? OCR means Optical Character Recognition.

If you don't have OCR software with your scanner you need to get OCR
software to convert scanned documents. Your scanned document is a "photo" of
the paper. The OCR software analyses the scanned document and converts the
images of characters to characters in a text file.

Search google for more info, and programs that do OCR.
