Have an e-machine running XP Home. Recently had WildTangent and others come
to visit. Did AdAware, CW Shredder, and others and thing it is now cleaned.
Ran defrag and clean disk (Old Scandisk) but now whenever I make any
selection, My Documents, Control Panel, Etc,, takes 30-45 seconds to
display. Got 256 K memory and before infection it was much faster.
Have AVG and it is up to date. Any suggestions

If you look at running processes (Ctrl + Alt + Del) is there something
using up the CPUs horsepower? If nothing shows up there you may need to
look a little closer with something like Taskinfo at
http://www.iarsn.com/download.html

HijackThis comes in pretty handy for finding things running hidden in
the background too. If you don't know what to eliminate with it don't
wing it, post your HJT log either in this group or one of the support
forums like

No wnder it is slow with 256k RAM!!!

But seriously, have you tried running Mircosofts AntiSpyware program,
before Microsoft took over this program, I used to use it and it was
quite successful, it should still be as Microsoft hasn't really changed it.

Thanks to all who responded. Downloaded, installed and ran Microsoft
Windows AntiSpyware (Beta)
and the problem has been resolved. It was some spyware problems got it
fixed right up for now. Thanks Again to all
