a friend has an older gateway spec's below. randomly it will only check
ram and display gateway screen then nothing else happens. no error
messages. if you power off and retry about every other time will boot up
with no problem. any ideas?
pent 400 processor
384mb ram
win98
2 hard drives 8gig main 1/2 full 80 gig 2nd 1/4 full

Amongst the myriad other things that you could
check, be sure to check/replace the power supply
and cables/connections.
