Default setting the program to open your .jpg files

I want to change my default program to open my .jpg files and can't seem to
get it to work. I want them to open in Microsoft PictureIT express, verson
9. I am using Windows 98 SE. My .jpg files used to open in my Ulead
software but there is an option on it to take it off as the default so I did
that. Then I went into my folder options and tried to change the software
to open in PictureIt but it doesn't seem to "take". I can go into PictureIT
and open a .jpg file there but I would like to have the convenience of being
able to double click on a .jpg file in Windows Explorer and have it open
automatically in PictureIt.

Thanks for your help in advance.
Nancy

There may be an easier way, but for now,
holding the Ctrl+Shift keys down, right click the .jpg then select
open with. There you can select PictureIt. be sure to check the box
use this option to open all files of this type. Good Luck.
