i have 2 80gb 7200rpm eide drives formatted ntfs and drive c: has
system files and win2k, drive d: has nothing but data. the transfer
rate for drive c is a bit low but not bad at 25.4mb. however drive d:
has a xfer rate of 2.4mb. the chipset is intel 875 and both are write
cached and both primary and secondary channels have device 0=ultra dma
and device 1 is requesting udma but is actually using pio. i have 2
questions, how do i speed up drive d: access time and how can i make
them BOTH use udma rather than pio. mahalo & aloha

I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but did you defrag drive d
after you put your stuff on it?

If D: is on IDE 2 try an 80way cable.

Cheers
Paul.
