Default Troubleshooting a dishwasher

Where is the best website or newsgroup for troubleshooting dishwasher
problems? Mine will fill with water, but the jets won't come on and it
won't drain. It just hums for a few seconds then clicks off. It has to be
off a while.

alt.home.repair

Google for your model; I tore down a washer with it's help.

By the way sounds like your pump is shot, It pumps water for the jets as
well as drain it.

alt.home.repair
misc.consumers.house
rec.food.equipment

(Check the charters first, but a quick Google Groups search on
dishwasher+repair saw your topic discussed in these groups.)

Some potentially useful links:

Good luck.

Motor is shot or you have something (a utensil,
broken piece of glass ect.) caught in the impeller.
If DW has been setting unused for a long period
of time the seals on the motor shaft have become
stuck together. Check impeller area and free up
it or the motor. The click is the overload safety
shutting off power to the motor.

I'd suggest checking the manufacturer's website first.

After that, do a web-hunt (Google, yahoo, whatever) for this:
+[name_brand_of_your_dishwasher] +[model_of_your_Dishwasher] +"Service
Manual"

You might find an online copy of the service manual for your machine.
