Hi all,

Both my wife and I have a Win2K machine each and I have noticed that
both machines hang for about 30 seconds on the windows logo boot screen.
Upon checking the boot log I see an entry stating that DCOM timed out.
This doesn't seem to affect the operation of the machine, but it does
make booting rather slow.

Any ideas?

Disable it. On www.grc.com you can download a 29 kB program
'DCOMbobulator' to disable DCOM, plus an excellent explanation why you
should disable DCOM.
