SYSTEM Dell 8100 Laptop with OEM WinXP Home Printers installed: Brother HL-1250 Laser Printer Canon S900 Inkjet Software Adobe Writer Version 4.05 I'm trying to get ACROBAT DISTILLER working on my Laptop since my desktop is going into storage for 1 year+. I need to Print to Acrobat Distiller. Distiller is 'grayed' out. When trying to install Distiller using the Adobe CD, it says that I need a Windows 2000 Post Script Driver that is available with any Postscript printer. There in is the problem. Apparently my printers don't have such a driver and I cannot find any such driver to install. Where can I find a Post Script driver and how is such a driver installed? TIA Mellowed |

The HL-1250 driver is the same one that is already loaded. The Canon driver seems to be a later version and I just downloaded it. I'll give it a try and see what happens. If you know of a specific Post Script driver it would be much appriciated. Thanks for trying Parko. That did not solve the problem and the computer still thinks I need a Post Script Driver. If you just want to create files in PDF format OpenOffice.org 1.1 will do the trick nicely. I found a Post Script Driver on the Adobe site. Downloaded it, installed it, and it solved the problem. Thanks again for your suggestions. Howdy!

Start --> Settings --> Control Panel --> Printers --> Add Printer --> Local Connection --> To File --> Use "Apple" for the Manufacturer and "LaserWriter 8500" (or almost any other LaserWriter for that matter ... ). Problem solved, files needed copied in from XP install CD, and Distiller is mucho happy. RwP Ralph W. Phillips |
