laminate flooring?

Lo All

Bit of a problem with cleaning laminate flooring.

Laid the flooring yesterday and this morning her goodself cleaned it with
the laminate cleaner i bought at the same time as the flooring.

Which didn't clean it at all - instead it marked the flooring qute badly -
when the light catches the flloor it looks streaky and dull in places.

Tried re-cleaning it but the marks are still there - tried using a HOT damp
cloth - but that didn't work then tried a different floor cleaner - that
didn't remove the marks either.

Any ideas what else i can try?

I will be contacting the manufacture tomorrow but in the meantime we are
having a party at the weekend and i need to sort the floor out as a matter
of urgency.

Any help/advice will be very much appreciated

cheers

D

I laid one about 4 yrs ago. It required using a glue along the edges as each
piece was put down. I removed the excess before it had a chance to set and
had no probs. I understand the newer floors don't use glue so not sure what
caused your marking. You might try using a glass cleaner (windex-or the Brit
equivalent). Dampen a soft cloth and rub lightly in a small area to try out.
The surface should be pretty durable so if you have a leftover piece you
might experiment using alcohol or other similar solvents.

Damn i wished i had thought of your "handle" first ))))

Yep i laid the "glue" type 'bout three years ago - i HATED it then as every
time somebody walked on it u could see marks - i vowed never to lay it
again.

This time i used the "click" together type - and it STILL shows all the
marks.

That said the problem i am having now is in addition to the "normal" marks -
it almost looks like her goodself sprayed the cleaner and then left it on
the floor, which of course she didn't, and the "fine-mist" stained the
laminate.

Off to try the window cleaner on it - fingers crossed.

Thanks for taking the time to reply - much appreciated

The glue type I put down never shows any marks. A damp mopping with water
and a little liquid floor cleaner removes any surface dirt and it has a nice
even shine. It's possible that the material used to make your flooring might
be different from mine. The mfgr might have some suggestions as to a surface
sealer or polish that will restore the shiny surface.
