I use AVG anti-virus which is the best I have seen so far and trust me, I
have tried them all.
The problem is that the anti-virus software keeps changing my pop3 setting
to "locahost" and my advanced settings as well.
Does anyone know how to solve this problem?
Cheers.
Young Hova.

Then you don't know how to tell a good product from
a spammy, crap one.

Yes, use a decent antivirus product -- AVG is crap.

Easy - you get rid of AVG and get a proper virus scanner

I have had this problem with NORTON (sucks) on two different machines.
Every 2 months or so it would change the server name to NortonAntiVirus.
First thing I did with this machine is to take off everything associated
with symantic.
I think they try to put too much into one box, and I would wind up with all
kinds of problems that could be traced back to Norton.

My granny used to say `never trust a man that says trust me'.

AVG is just fine for people with a tiny amount of common sense. The £40
'proper' virus scanners are for people too lazy, or too stupid to know what
they are doing.

I have never had AVG change any settings on all 8 PC's I've used it on. You
are updating AVG manually?

Telling a network administrator he can't use AV software. Nice one :-p
Never have liked AVG, probably never will. I've fixed about 4 pc's that
were having major issues before - as soon as AVG went off the system, they
started working again. co-incidence? doubt it.

So, by your logic, the only antivirus worth having is one
of the worst at finding actual viruses? Well, I know who
I think DOESN'T have a tiny amount of common sense.

*******s! AVG is a complete pile of shite, it missed around 40 viruses which
had found their way mysteriously onto my server. Norton >>Corporate<< found
all of them near instantly after installation.

However, i do agree that 'retail' solutions are total crap. Looks like its
time for the OP to invest in NortonCorp or F-Secure

It's supposed to do that. Your send and receive will still work as it did before. Why is it a problem?
