This might be a stupid question, but does it make any difference at
all which power cable I use for a SATA drive? The drive came with a
SATA power cable, but the drive also has a conventional four pin
socket for a regular power cable. I've plugged it into the four pin
and it works fine. Is it just an extra option or is there a benefit to
using the SATA power cable? Thanks.

Okay, I just noticed I mispelled SATA in the subject line of my
original post.

Not.

Of course, it's a different connector with more pins.
