Hi All
Just a quickie

Wiped hard drive and have now loaded WinXP.

When winME was installed it had a programme called Quicken, which my wifes
uses for our accounts. WinXP does not have this.

If i put the WinME cd in the CDrom draw and browse it's contents can i just
install the Quicken file?

If this is not the way to do it can u tell me how!

Many thanks

D

As far as I am aware, Quicken is a commercial software package which
is not bundled with either WinMe or XP! It is produced by:
http://www.quicken.com/

You may have the quicken software on another CD (or even floppies) and
you can install it from there. Otherwise, I believe that it is on some
magazine cover disks in the UK at this very moment.

If the worst comes to the worst, you may have to buy it. If you still
have the details of your original purchase of Quicken, you may be able
to get the company to sell you another copy at nominal cost.

Hi

Thanks for the reply.

When wife's pc crashed the other day we wiped the hard drive and re
installed winME - i noticed as it was going thru the installation process
that quicken was being istalled - i just assumed it wa "bundled" in with
WinME.

Sorry if i caused any confusion.

regards

I expect what you were installing was *NOT* a windows ME CD but a
restore CD supplied by your computer vendor, which would have all the
bundled software on it.

Ummmmmmm
browsed the winME cd and quicken is NOT on there.

Then i just remembered that her goodself had "restore" discs.

What can i say - you are spot on - just browsing them now to see if i can
find quicken.

It may not come bundled with ME or XP but it *would* come bundled with
one of those crappy ass restore CDs that OEMs are now want to do. As
for installing it on XP from one of those restore CDs, as long as you
have found the directory where they stuck the progam on, you should be
able to install it when you click the setup.exe icon.
