Hello:

used the program Easy Cleaner to find stuff that it believes i should remove
from system.

Picked up a load of old files that have a number and then the extension .CHK

What are .CHK files ?

saved files from scandisk , if it finds missing data or missing file data it
saves it in chk format incase the lost files are important they could be
recovered.....

Pretty much useless files from scandisk. If you shut your pc down a lot
by just hitting
the OFF button you'll get lots of them.

Sophos Antivirus (one of the best!) uses "INTERCHK.CHK".
Don't delete that one.
