Windows 98SE. The mouse jumps around, I have to click an icon 5 times or
more to open a folder/start a program or close one down. Sometimes it
doesn't release and draws boxes on the screen or highlights text when I move
it. I have Norton Antivirus, Zone Alarm, Spy sweeper, Spybot, Spyware
blaster and have used Trend Housecall. None of them detect a virus or
spyware. The mouse works perfectly if I am in safe mode. I have tried
disabling startup items but nothing makes any difference. I am having
difficulty with this message as the cursor sort of sticks if I try to edit
something. When I click send it will take several clicks to select it, that
is if I can get it to the send button. It's a Logitech cordless keybd and
mouse, the batteries are ok and I have used it with no problems for 3 years.

Always start with the easiest thing to test... sub in a
known good WIRED mouse...
