The JV16 PowerTools are a bit more power than I need. However, the
RegSupreme program looks OK. Is it worth the $12.95 US or would it
be just as well to find some freeware?

Freeware. PowerTools is a great program IMHO. A keeper.

There isn't a registry cleaner worth paying money for, when
freeware version do the same job. Try EasyCleaner:
