Virgin have been having problems for last couple of weeks first with pages
loading now with their e mail.

Have this posted on their site :

A small percentage of customers are experiencing problems when accessing
their Virgin.net email accounts due to server timeouts. Customers may
increase the time allowed in Outlook Express by making the following minor
adjustment:

Launch Outlook Express and from the menubar, Click Tools > Accounts.
Select the 'Mail' tab, and highlight the email account which is timing out.
Click the 'Properties' button.

Select the 'Advanced' tab and increase the 'Server Timeout' slider to at
least Halfway (2mins 30 secs).

Click 'OK' and then click 'Close'.
We are trying to resolve the problem as soon as possible and we apologise
for any inconvenience caused.
Last update at 11:50am, November 24.

However they promised problems would be solved on 14th November but we are
still waiting. You might want to have a look at this forum to see what
problems other virgin users are having

Yup .. but not a lot you can do about it. The time-out 'fix' only makes you
wait a bit longer before it says you still can't get mail. In my experience
keep trying a few times and at different times of the day, it _does_
eventually go through.

Virgin is one of my 'stand-by' accounts and is where I have my webspace ..
but it is only email that's poor at the mo' ..

I find my 24 x 7 account is useless sometimes and others OK, the pay
as you go number is usually OK. However something is also wrong with
the web service. I find that now and then I cant even get to google or
anywhere unless I disconnect and start again. I have emailed virgin
but I expect I may get an answer in two to three weeks. When they were
good they were very very good, when they were bad ....
