Thousands of newservers (if not purged or not having an automatic policy) hang on to dozens of post dated messages for years because some posters think it's funny to use the wrong date settings. Top posting as in replying at the top of the message or having the wrong date, 1 is acceptable the other is used to force messages to appear first and is not acceptable. >Thanks to "why?" for the Semantic address. Someone else got thier terms mixed up earlier. The only thing I moaned about was, >From: why? <fgrirp*sgc@VAINY!Qznq.fpvragvfg.pbz> >Newsgroups: 24hoursupport.helpdesk >Subject: Re: swen removal tool >Message-ID: <> >References: <lGgbb.1004$%> <7Gmbb.1185$> >Date: Sun, 21 Sep 2003 19:27:55 GMT >NNTP-Posting-Host: 82.41.66.129 > >X-No-Archive: Yes >On Mon, 22 Sep 2003 20:07:48 +0100, Twixer wrote: > >>Ok Ok got the point, I wont be so silly in future, I thought In was trying >>to be helpful.......... jeeeez. > >Many ISPs consider time/date changes to appear at the top the list a >form of Usenet abuse and it can rate a report to your ISP. > > ===end paste=== >"In other groups Nedra might get quick-fried, though." >> >> >>"Nedra" <> wrote in message >>news:aVrbb.1585$ link.net... >>> Thanks, Buffalo! I,m not sure, I was allready subscribed on freeserve, I seem to recall though, that I was surprised that I was subscribed when ntl set up thiere server. Possibly they subscribe new users to it, cos they ain't got any decent support group themselves. It is of course, rather naughty of them, cos new-users might well think that it's an ntl-helpdesk. Anyway, 24hshd, is, at the top of the list! Three cheers for 24hshd, hip hip, .. > >> PPS Please don't set benny-larder on to me. > > OK, I'll call him off. Patrick |

Subscribing to new.newusers is good. Good newsreading software should do this. But subscribing NTL users to this group, without lots of warning, is a bit cheeky. If I was an NTL customer I'd be very grumpy about meeting arseholes like, well, me in 2h. Petit Alexi |
